Caloy Gernale leaves for international art residency in Malaysia this April 2012
As part of SAGE (Southeast Asia Art Groups Exchange) Artist-in-residence program, Caloy Gernale is leaving for an international artist residency to be held in Malaysia this April 2012. SAGE is spearheaded by Project Space Pilipinas (Philippines), House of Matahati (Malaysia) and Tenggara Artland (Indonesia). Hindi maitatatwang ang katotohanang panlipunan ngayon ang gustong ihatid ng mga gawa ni Carlo Gernale, isang batang pintor na nakabase ngayon sa lalawigan ng Kabite. Caloy Gernale unveils 8th one-man art exhibit entitled "Social Animals," November 27 @ Nineveh ArtSpace
As always, Carlo “Caloy” Gernale will be integrating his airbrushing expertise in depicting today’s social realities. In his 8th one-man art exhibition entitled Social Animals, Gernale bares the “products of his reflections” of the recurring collective predicament of both dominant and marginalized classes in society. He will be employing images of various familiar animals to signify not only the characteristics, but more importantly, the consensual ideology, desire, and ambition of each class in the existing social order. >>>continue reading.

Show runs till May 15. Just tell the tricycle driver, “Manong, sa Arayat St. po, du’n sa apartment na may itim na gate, katapat ng puno ng balete,” and without any trace of uncertainty on his crude face, the driver takes you to the place. It is impossible to get lost as the description of how to make it to Project Space Pilipinas (PSP) is as striking as the current national situation.
